Kishan Reddy slams Telangana grain procurement

HYDERABAD: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday alleged that the Congress government in Telangana had failed in paddy procurement.
Addressing a media conference at the BJP office, Kishan Reddy said the responsibility for procuring paddy rests with the state government. He said the Centre purchases the grain after it is procured by the state.
He accused the state government of criticising the Central government despite failing to manage procurement effectively. Kishan Reddy alleged that farmers face difficulties every year because of delays and shortcomings in the procurement process.
Questions over planning and logistics
Kishan Reddy questioned why procurement-related problems were recurring only in Telangana when similar issues were not being reported in other states.
He said the government lacked a proper plan for paddy procurement and added that farmers were suffering because of the state’s approach. He also alleged that the government was unable to supply even gunny bags required for procurement operations.
BJP yatra prompted response, says minister
The Union minister further questioned why issues not seen in other states were arising in Telangana. He claimed that the government did not respond adequately on paddy procurement until BJP leaders launched their outreach programme on the issue.
