Khammam police crack Boggula Srinivas murder

TELANGANA: Police have confirmed that the death of writer Boggula Srinivas in Khammam district was not a road accident but a contract killing planned in advance.
Investigators said Srinivas’s close friend Venumadhav Reddy orchestrated the murder over financial transactions. Kusumanchi police arrested Venumadhav Reddy and three others allegedly involved in the crime.
Body dumped in Palair Reservoir to fake crash
Police said the accused killed Srinivas between Narketpally and Nakrekal. They later brought the body near Palair Reservoir and threw it into the water to portray the murder as a car accident.
During questioning, the accused gave inconsistent statements. Police said sustained interrogation led to the disclosure of the plot. Venumadhav Reddy confessed that he hired killers to eliminate Srinivas over monetary disputes.
No link between book on Pawan Kalyan, says ACP
Khammam Rural Assistant Commissioner of Police Tirupathi Reddy clarified that attempts were being made to give a political colour to the case.
Srinivas had earlier written a book on Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan. However, the ACP said there was no connection between the book and the murder. Preliminary inquiry indicated that financial disputes were the sole motive. He urged people not to make unnecessary allegations.
Police said they collected scientific evidence, including call data records and closed-circuit television footage along the vehicle’s route. Based on the evidence, they arrested the accused and registered cases for murder and for destroying evidence.
Srinivas’s death has left his family and literary associates in shock. The fact that a close friend was allegedly behind the killing has become a topic of discussion locally.
