Traffic advisory issued for Sept 17, 2024, due to Khairtabad Ganesh festival

Hyderabad: The Telangana Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming 10-day Khairtabad Bada Ganesh Festival, which runs from September 7 to September 17, 2024. Thousands of devotees are expected to visit the festival daily from various parts of the city and beyond.

On September 17, the 11th day of the festival, the immersion of the Ganesh idol will take place in Hussain Sagar Lake. To manage the expected traffic congestion, the following diversion arrangements will be implemented from 11:00 a.m. until late at night, depending on the volume of visitors:

1. Traffic from VV Statue to Mint Compound via Rajeev Gandhi Statue will be redirected at Rajeev Gandhi Statue towards Nirankari Junction.

2. Traffic from Old Police Station Saifabad to Bada Ganesh via Rajdoot Lane will be diverted at Rajdoot Lane towards Iqbal Minar.

3. Traffic from Iqbal Minar to Mint Compound Lane will be rerouted at Mint Lane Entrance towards Telugu Thalli Junction.

4. Traffic from NTR Marg/Khairatabad Flyover/Necklace Road to Mint Compound will be diverted at Necklace Rotary towards Telugu Thalli Junction or Khairatabad Flyover.

5. Traffic from Nirankari via Khairatabad Post Office Lane to Khairatabad Railway Gate will be redirected at the Post Office towards Old Police Station Saifabad Junction.

Expected Traffic Congestion:

Significant traffic congestion is anticipated, particularly on weekends and public holidays, at key junctions, including Khairtabad, Shadan College, Nirankari, Old PS Saifabad, Mint Compound, and Necklace Rotary. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes.

Parking Information:

Visitors arriving via Necklace Rotary and NTR Garden should park at Ambedkar Square Parking Place beside IMAX Theatre, NTR Garden Parking Place opposite IMAX, Saraswathi Vidya Mandir High School premises, or Racecourse Road Parking Place.

Visitors coming in their own vehicles should pass through Necklace Road/IMAX Rotary and avoid Khairatabad Rajiv Gandhi Statue Road and Rajdoot Lane Road.

These traffic restrictions will be enforced based on the number of devotees attending the festival. Devotees are encouraged to park in designated areas and follow the traffic rules to avoid delays.
