Khairatabad Police Conduct Drill at Secretariat

HYDERABAD: As part of efforts to strengthen law and order and improve emergency response, the Khairatabad Zone police conducted a special mobilisation drill near the Telangana Secretariat at midnight on March 1, 2026.
The exercise was held under the directions of Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar and supervised by Khairatabad Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police K Shilpavalli.
Rapid deployment under simulated emergency
Around 275 personnel, from home guards to Assistant Commissioner of Police rank officers, participated in the drill. The mock exercise tested how quickly personnel could assemble at a designated location during an emergency or untoward incident.
Coordination and equipment checks
Under the coordination of the zonal control room, officers were briefed on their assigned responsibilities. Public addressing systems, riot gear and fire balls were inspected to assess availability and functionality.
Field-level security review at key location
Shilpavalli personally reviewed security arrangements and police alertness around the Secretariat, a key installation, during the midnight exercise. She issued instructions to personnel on preparedness.
Addressing the participants, she said, “Protection of the public is the primary duty of the police. In any emergency, rapid deployment of forces is crucial. Such drills not only enhance preparedness of the police force but also ensure timely protection to the public.”
She commended the continued efforts of Khairatabad Zone police in maintaining law and order and urged personnel to perform in line with the expectations of senior officers and the public.
