Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender hits back at demolition case accusations

Jubilee hills: Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender has denied allegations of involvement in the demolition of a compound wall in Nandagiri Hills. The MLA’s comments come after the Jubilee Hills police booked him for alleged trespassing and proving few to illegal demolish a compound wall on government land.
The Khairatabad legislator Danam Nagender said, “ They don’t have the right to question my presence at the scene. If I had provoked them to demolish the wall, then I would be in the wrong, and action should be taken against me. I made it clear to the people that we should not engage in any illegal demolition activities, as we don’t have the authority to do so. I assured them that I would raise the issue at a proper forum and then left. There were many witnesses to the event. Despite this, they filed a suo moto case against them without verifying the facts.
Taking a dig at A.V. Ranganath, the Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Relief and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Danam said, “Some people have personal grudges or seek publicity, which leads to these actions and transfers. We’ve been in public life for many years”.
“If they demolish houses, and with GHMC elections coming up, how can we then ask these people for their votes? Don’t try to demolish the huts. If there are encroachments on nalas or public property like parks, you can remove them as directed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. However, you should not demolish the huts of ST or SC communities. This area was allocated to ST families by the government, and they have been living there. There was no budget allocated for this issue,” explained Danam.
It is pertinent to note that Khairatabad legislator Danam Nagender was booked by the Jubilee Hills police of Hyderabad commissionerate for allegedly trespassing and aiding a group to demolish a compound wall in Nandagiri Hills.
According to the complaint from Enforcement department, “On 10th August, at around 10.30 a.m. residents from the nearby Guru Brahma Nagar illegally trespassed and demolished the erected compound wall in the presence of MLA Khairatabad, Danam Nagender, who has also witnessed the above action by provoking Gopal Naik and Ramchander. The wall was on government land managed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
