Keslapur Nagoba Jatara begins in Indervelli today

Adilabad : Preparations are complete for the Keslapur Nagoba Jatara, held at Keslapur village in Indervelli of Adilabad district. Recognised as a state festival, the tribal fair will continue till January 25.
The jatra will begin with mahapuja rituals at 10 pm on Sunday, marking Pushya Amavasya. Members of the Mesram clan will perform the ceremonial abhishekam of Nagoba using holy Godavari water collected on foot from Hastina Madugu in Mancherial district. Seven varieties of offerings will be presented as part of the opening rituals.
Rituals draw devotees from five states
Adivasis from Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are expected to arrive in large numbers to witness the rituals.
Special pujas, darbar scheduled
As part of the jatra, the Mesram clan will conduct temple purification and special prayers on January 20. Entry into the temple will be restricted to others during this period. On the same day, Persapen pujas, in which only men participate, and Bhan Devi pujas, marked by significant participation of women, will be held.
A darbar will be organised on January 22 in the presence of ministers and district officials, during which tribal people will place their grievances before the government. Traditional rituals of the Mesram clan will conclude on January 23 with Betal pujas and Mandagajiling programmes. However, the influx of devotees is expected to continue till January 25.
