HYDERABAD: Police at the Keesara Police Station remanded 17 persons suspected of orchestrating a land-fraud ring in the Keesara mandal near Hyderabad.

According to CI Anjaneyulu, an elderly woman from Kapra lodged a complaint accusing her husband, RLN Raju, and others of unlawfully trying to grab her 159-square-yard plot in Bhavaninagar, Nagaram village, using forged documents.

Investigators say that since 2022 the group has sold more than 15 plots in the Keesara, Ghatkesar and Shamirpet areas using fake death certificates, bogus legal-heir certifications, forged identity cards, rubber stamp impressions and duplicate seals. They borrowed about ₹35 lakh from a private housing-finance company and divided the funds.

So far, police say they have verified crimes by 37 individuals. Of those, 17, including Kiran, Mahesh and a team of stamp-document forgers, were produced before court. Others remain at large.
