Kcr Power Purchase Investigation

Hyderabad: The commission, led by Justice L Narasimha Reddy, has officially served a notice to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The notice seeks a comprehensive response regarding KCR’s involvement in power purchase agreements (PPAs) during his tenure. The commission has set a deadline for the response, expecting it to be submitted by June 15th.

In response, KCR has requested an extension, seeking additional time until July 30 to provide the necessary clarifications.

The commission is investigating alleged irregularity in power purchase agreements (PPAs) made during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. It specifically focuses on agreements related to the Yadadri and Damarcherla power plants. The inquiry also includes a proposed 1,000 MW power purchase from Chhattisgarh.

On Monday, former chairman and managing director of Telangana Genco and Transco D. Prabhakar Rao and former special chief secretary Suresh Chanda appeared before the commission. During his tenure in the energy department, Suresh Chanda was involved in the controversial proposal to secure power from Chhattisgarh.

The commission has warned that if the former CM’s response is unsatisfactory, a personal appearance process will be initiated.

The Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission is working to identify any potential irregularities in the power purchase agreements (PPAs) between the Chhattisgarh government and the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects. As part of the ongoing investigation, notices will soon be sent to other officials involved in these decisions.
