Multi-level parking facility at KBR Park opens today

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s first multi-level parking facility near KBR Park will open to the public on Saturday. GHMC said on Friday that trial runs were completed and the system was ready for operations.
Officials said GHMC provided the land while a private operator built the structure with its own funds. Under the agreement, the operator will collect parking fees and run digital advertising at the centre for 15 years.
Five-storey structure for 72 cars and 20 two-wheelers
Heavy traffic around KBR Park has led to vehicles being parked along the roadside, especially during morning and evening walking hours. To ease congestion, GHMC built a five-storey parking block on a 405 sq m site along the road from NTR Bhavan Junction towards Jubilee Checkpost.
The automated system can hold 72 cars. Users leave their vehicle at the entry bay, after which a vertical rotating mechanism parks it on an available floor. Space has also been created for 20 two-wheelers.
The service will operate from 5am to 11pm.
RFID-based access, sensors and EV charging
Representatives of the operating company said the centre is equipped with RFID tags, sensors, CCTV cameras and other automated systems. They added that electric vehicle charging points have also been installed.
