Kavitha accuses Revanth government of diverting Telangana water to AP

HYDERABAD: TRS founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha accused the Congress government of neglecting irrigation works in Telangana. She also alleged that the government was diverting the state’s water to Andhra Pradesh.
“Revanth Reddy is packing up our water and sending it as a gift pack to Chandrababu,” Kavitha said.
She alleged that Krishna water was reaching Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh but not farmers in Mahbubnagar.
Kavitha said work on the Narlapur reservoir could have helped the region tackle the current water shortage.
“If some expense had been incurred on the Narlapur reservoir, there would have been a chance to fill it up now,” she said.

She said filling the reservoir could also have improved groundwater levels in the region. According to Kavitha, the water could have helped irrigate the full ayacut under the Kalwakurthy irrigation project.
Kavitha blamed the Congress government for the situation. She alleged that the government had not taken up a single irrigation work in three years.
“Because the Congress government didn’t do even a single work in three years, today we’ve reached a situation where we have to struggle with drought,” she said.
