Trisha And Suriya In Upcoming Tamil Film Karuppu Ahead Of May 14 Release

HYDERABAD: Makers of the Tamil film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, cancelled the special 9 a.m. shows scheduled for May 14.

The cancellation came just hours after reports said Vijay had cleared the early-morning screenings in one of his first directives as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Producer S. R. Prabhu announced the decision on social media. “Due to unavoidable reasons, we are cancelling the 9 a.m. shows for Karuppu. Our sincere apologies to everyone,” he said.

AGS Entertainment also confirmed a delay in the film’s release because of “unforeseen reasons”.

“As informed by the producer, unforeseen reasons have delayed the release of #Karuppu. Online booking platforms will process refunds for 9 a.m. show tickets. Moviegoers can collect offline ticket refunds at the respective box office counters,” AGS Cinema said.

Karuppu marks the fourth on-screen collaboration between Suriya and Trisha after Mounam Pesiyadhe, Aayutha Ezhuthu and Aaru.

The film had generated strong buzz at the box office amid speculation about Trisha’s reported close friendship with Vijay.

Industry sources said Trisha does not plan to enter politics and is currently busy with three film projects. Sources also said she may explore opportunities in Hindi cinema.
