Karnan, Sajjanar inspect KBR Park one-way plan
HYDERABAD: Senior officials from multiple departments on Wednesday jointly inspected the proposed one-way route around KBR Park as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicle movement.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner R V Karnan, Hyderabad police commissioner V C Sajjanar, joint commissioner of police (traffic) D Joel Davis, representatives of construction agencies and police officials took part in the inspection.
Officials walk five km to assess traffic bottlenecks
Between 7am and 9am, the officials walked nearly five km around KBR Park, inspecting roads and major junctions. They visited Agrasen Junction, Film Nagar, Journalist Colony, Jubilee Hills Road No. 45, Jubilee Hills Check Post and the KBR Park main entrance, and assessed traffic movement at these locations.
The officials discussed problems that emerged during a recent trial run of the one-way system on the route, conducted against the backdrop of works under the H-CITI project.
They found that narrow roads at some locations were causing traffic congestion during peak hours and directed GHMC staff to immediately take up road-widening works at these points.
Pelican signals, lane markings planned for pedestrian safety
Sajjanar said the officials reviewed the progress of works to be undertaken by various departments for the effective implementation of the one-way system around KBR Park.
“We have instructed officials to quickly complete the minor civil works required to ensure that motorists do not face any inconvenience,” he said.
He said lane markings and pelican signals should be installed to protect pedestrians crossing roads. Representatives of construction agencies were also asked to speed up the ongoing park development works.
GHMC, police coordinate to ease traffic around park
Karnan said the proposed one-way system would be implemented effectively to reduce congestion around KBR Park.
“We will complete the works suggested by Hyderabad City Police at the earliest,” he said, seeking public cooperation while the works are under way.
He said the police and GHMC were working in continuous coordination to ensure that residents did not face travel-related inconvenience.
Khairatabad zonal commissioner Santosh, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Kajal and several senior officials from GHMC and the police department also took part in the field inspection.
