Case registered after activists allege mass killing of stray dogs in Kamareddy

KAMAREDDY: More than 600 stray dogs were allegedly killed in Palvancha mandal headquarters and several villages under the limits of Machareddy Police Station in Kamareddy district, triggering outrage among animal lovers and rights activists.
The alleged killings were reported from Fareedpet, Bandaram Eshwarpally, Bhavanipet and Wadi villages. Activists have accused newly elected sarpanches in the concerned villages of supervising the mass killing.
Animal rights activists Moola Rajani, Anupolu Anita, Bhanu Prakash, Govardhan and others lodged a complaint at Machareddy Police Station, seeking criminal action against those responsible.
Police officials said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Teams have identified locations where the dogs were allegedly buried and conducted a panchanama as part of the probe, officials added.
The incident has drawn condemnation from animal welfare groups, which have demanded stringent action and strict enforcement of animal protection laws.
