Kamalapur 2BHK House Distribution Turns Tense as Congress, BRS Supporters Clash
HYDERABAD: Tension broke out in Kamalapur during the distribution of two-bedroom houses after Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supporters raised slogans and confronted each other.
Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reportedly exchanged heated words with BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy during the programme.
Ponguleti blames previous government for state debts
Speaking at the housing distribution programme, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy blamed the previous government for the debts incurred by the state.
Ponguleti said schemes were not being implemented because of the debts incurred by the K Chandrasekhar Rao government.
Kaushik Reddy immediately stood up and objected to the remarks. He accused Ponguleti of spreading misinformation about the debts incurred during the BRS government and asked him to stop what he described as Congress trying to evade responsibility in the name of debts.
Kaushik Reddy also said the two-bedroom houses for elderly beneficiaries had been constructed during the BRS government.
He objected to the Congress government holding a programme to distribute the houses while claiming credit for them. Kaushik Reddy also argued with Ponnam Prabhakar, saying the houses being distributed had been constructed during the BRS government.
Police remove BRS supporters as workers raise slogans
As the situation escalated, police removed several BRS supporters from the venue. Workers from both Congress and BRS continued to raise slogans during the confrontation.
