Kalvakuntla Kavitha breaks down, seeks MLC resignation acceptance

HYDERABAD: Kalvakuntla Kavitha turned emotional while speaking in the Legislative Council on Monday, stating that this would be the last time she addressed the House.
Kavitha used her speech to respond to allegations made against her and said she was speaking with a sense of finality. She later told reporters that the moment was deeply emotional.
Resignation request to Chairman
Addressing the House, Kavitha urged the Council Chairman to accept her resignation as a Member of the Legislative Council. She said she had already decided to give up the MLC post after exiting the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, through which she had been elected.
Resignation pending for months
Kavitha said she had submitted her resignation earlier but it had not been accepted despite months passing. She said she therefore raised the issue once again on the floor of the House, seeking its immediate acceptance.
She added that irrespective of whether the Chairman accepted her resignation or not, she had decided not to use MLC protocol facilities any longer. Kavitha also made it clear that she would not attend future Council sessions.
