Kachiguda railway museum showcases India’s rail heritage

Hyderabad: The railway museum at Kachiguda railway station offers a visual and audio walk-through of the evolution of India’s railway system. A key attraction is ‘Sir Alec’, a steam locomotive built in 1907 by Kitson Company, Leeds.
Museum highlights rail development under Nizam era
Set up by South Central Railway in 2015, the museum features exhibits on the growth of the Nizam Guaranteed State Railway during the rule of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam. The collection includes photographs, miniature models and explanatory displays that trace the expansion of the network.
Historic signalling, coaches and tickets on display
Visitors can view signalling equipment used from early railway days to the present, along with models of locomotives, coaches and old railway tickets.
The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Entry fee is ₹5.
