Hyderabad: Kachiguda police rescue 2-month-old baby boy within hours of abduction

Hyderabad: Kachiguda police has busted a child trafficking ring and rescued a two-month-old baby boy and arrested the prime accused within hours of the crime.
Authorities said the baby was stolen at D-Mart, Kachiguda on February 10. The accused had taken the complainant to the hypermart to do shopping for her baby. While shopping, the mother handed over the child to the accused, who escaped the store with the baby and fled the spot in an autorickshaw.
Acting on a complaint, the police swiftly formed two special teams led by SI D Subhash and SI P Ravi Kumar to trace the missing toddler who was abducted from a shopping complex.
The analysis of CCTV footage in the area of crime revealed that prime accused 46-year-old Boga Narsing Raj, an X-ray technician at Nikhil hospital and his accomplice 48-year-old Raghavender, a government employee were involved in the abduction, the third accused 55-year-old Umavathi is on the run. The two accused persons were traced and arrested at Gowliguda while the baby was found in the home of Sandhya Rani who had bought the baby from the accused persons for Rs. 30,000.
The probe revealed that childless Rani wanted to adopt a child and she came in contact with Raj through Raghavender. The prime accused then targetted the unsuspecting mother and convinced her to visit D-Mart on the pretext of buying new clothes for her baby. He then kidnapped the child and handed him over to Rani. Authorities said Raj was previously involved in criminal activities. He allegedly approached childless couples and offered to deliver babies for illegal adoption.
The police safely handed over the child to his biological mother Shervatti Varalaxmi and registered a case under section 137(2), 80 & 81 of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
