RK Puram RoB facelift rains

Hyderabad: The seasonal rains have left many important roads unfit for driving. Due to incessant rainfall, the Road over Bridge (RoB) at RK Puram (Ramakistapuram) in Secunderabad was badly damaged and was left unattended for too long.

Even though, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)’s proposal to take up repair works received a sanction from GHMC Council in July but the restoration works delayed. The estimated cost for the repair works for the RoB is expected to be Rs. 4.60 crore.

The commuters have long raised their voices against the bad condition and excessive vibrations of the road. Now, the civic body has decided to fix the rain-damaged RoB which is an important road link between Sainikpuri, AS Rao Nagar and ECIL.

During the study of the RoB carried out by a third party, it was found that the road over bridge had minor issues like expansion joints, railings, separation cracks in abutment, besides provision for drainage spouts among others. The GHMC officials said the water seepage following the heavy rains has caused damage to the RoB’s structure.
