HYDERABAD: A junior assistant working in the office of the deputy educational officer, Bandlaguda, was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000, officials said.

Bribe allegedly sought to protect SSC exam centre status

The accused officer allegedly demanded the money for not removing a private school from the list of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examination centres.

Tainted cash recovered during ACB trap

The ACB said the tainted amount was recovered from the possession of the officer during the trap laid by the City Range-II unit.

Accused to be produced before special court

The officer is being arrested and will be produced before the additional special judge for Special Police Establishment and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.

According to the press note issued by the ACB, the trap was laid on February 4, 2026, after the complainant alleged that the official demanded illegal gratification for extending an official favour. The ACB said the official performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The case is under investigation.

The ACB appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Citizens can also contact the bureau through WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X (formerly Twitter) @TelanganaACB. Officials said the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
