Jubilee Hills veterinarians treating dog using fish skin therapy

HYDERABAD: A minor injury in a pet dog worsened into a severe wound, leaving the animal unable to walk or sleep. Doctors at Petscare Super Speciality Hospital in Jubilee Hills treated the wound using fish skin, enabling a full recovery.

Injury spreads rapidly, dog immobilised

The dog, owned by Electronics Corporation of India Limited employee Raghav, suffered a small injury in the second week of October 2025. The wound spread to nearly 50% of the body, leaving the dog unable to walk, sit or lie down. The dog also stopped eating and appeared to be in constant pain.

Doctors opt for tilapia fish skin

Raghav approached Petscare Super Speciality Hospital after the condition deteriorated. After examining the dog, doctors decided to apply tilapia fish skin to the wound. The procedure took about 12 hours, the doctors said.

Full recovery in three months

Within three months, the dog recovered fully, with the wound healing completely. The dog is now healthy and active.

Petscare founders and veterinary specialists Venkatya Yadav, Laxman and Shareen explained the treatment at a meeting held at the hospital.

Raghav said the treatment cost up to ₹1 lakh.
