Jubilee Hills police arrest six for failed robbery bid

HYDERABAD: Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested a security guard and five others for allegedly attempting a robbery at the residence of industrialist Ajay Agarwal in Banjara Hills. Officers said the guard, posted at the house for over a year, planned the break-in with his associates.
Guard shared daily cash movement details
According to police, Agarwal runs companies in Balanagar and returns home each night with large amounts of cash. K. Dadapeer, 34, from Anantapur, who worked as a security guard at the residence, allegedly shared these details with his friend Mallela Sai Kumar, 27, from Guntakal.
Sai Kumar then roped in Sangu Krishnakant, 35, Guruswamy, Shaik Irfan Basha, 33, T. Narsimha Charan, 32, and Chaitanya, 30. The group allegedly prepared a plan to tie up domestic staff and loot cash from the house.
Attempt foiled after driver raised alarm
Around midnight on November 22, the accused entered the servant quarters wearing masks and carrying knives. They first tried to restrain driver Dadachand with ropes. Police said the group attempted to gag him with tape, but the driver woke up, resisted and raised an alarm.
The accused allegedly attacked him with a knife, causing minor injuries, before fleeing the premises. Ajay Agarwal alerted Dial 100, leading to a police response at the scene.
Police crack case after questioning guard
Police said inconsistencies in Dadapeer’s statements led to further questioning. He reportedly confessed to planning the offence along with his associates, believing large sums of money were stored at the residence and that “one successful robbery would set his life”.
Police arrested six accused, while Guruswamy remains absconding. Three knives and mobile phones were seized. Jubilee Hills police are investigating further.
