Nepali gang held for ₹1.3 crore robbery in Jubilee Hills; five arrested, mastermind absconding

HYDERABAD: Jubilee Hills police, along with the Hyderabad City Task Force, arrested five persons for their alleged role in a pre-planned residential robbery at Nandagiri Hills in Jubilee Hills. The case was registered as Crime No. 67/2026 at Jubilee Hills police station under Sections 309(6), 331(6), 123, 127(2), 115 read with 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the offence took place on February 5, 2026, when a Nepali gang allegedly targeted a house during the absence of the owner and family members. According to investigators, a maid employed at the house facilitated the entry of two associates, who allegedly administered intoxicating substances to the watchmen and cook before decamping with gold and diamond jewellery worth about ₹1.3 crore.
Police alleged that the gang, led by absconding accused Jeevan alias Jiban Bahadur Chand, conspired to identify wealthy households in Hyderabad by placing a member as domestic help. The insider would conduct reconnaissance of valuables and security arrangements before enabling theft or robbery.
The arrested accused were identified as Ramesh Bahadur Chand, Janak Kumar Bikram Shahi, Lalit Bahadur Chand, Madan Khatri and Bohara Susil alias Susheel. Police described their roles as execution, receiving stolen property, financial assistance and harbouring of offenders.
Acting on technical and field intelligence, police tracked the accused and recovered stolen jewellery, mobile phones and motorcycles from their possession. Investigators said the accused assembled at a house in Sai Nagar, Nizampet, Bachupally mandal in Medchal–Malkajgiri district after the offence. They later dispersed to different locations and allegedly contacted associates to arrange shelter and escape towards Nepal.
Police said some accused knowingly harboured the offenders and provided financial and logistical support. The arrested persons were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are on to apprehend other absconding accused, including Jeevan alias Jiban Bahadur Chand, Bhuvan alias Bhupender Shahi and Debi Kadel alias Bimla, who police suspect were key conspirators.
The case is being investigated by Satyanarayana, Detective Inspector of Jubilee Hills police station, under the supervision of K Venkateshwara Reddy, Station House Officer, S Venkat Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jubilee Hills division, K Srikanth, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, and A Ramana Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jubilee Hills zone.
