Jubilee Hills: City-based jeweller arrested for cheating investors

Hyderabad: A city-based jeweller Kanti Dutt was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police on Sunday for allegedly cheating investors.
Several cases had been registered against him earlier this year, including accusations by Tritiyaa co-founder Srija Tippala.
In her complaint, Tippala alleged that Dutt forged her credentials and ousted her as the company’s director, replacing her with his mother. Tippala discovered the forgery through an RTI application after investing over ₹2.5 crore into the company.
The accused, who is the owner of a popular jewellery boutique brand in Hyderabad, orchestrated a scheme under his jewellery store and approached several persons including Samantha Ruth Prabhu and celebrity designers from Tollywood and Bollywood to invest in the business, promising lucrative profits. He had allegedly collected huge sums of money from these investors.
Last September, Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra announced her investment in the Hyderabad-based jewellery brand. The accused had also hired the services of a few actors to promote his brand.
The jeweler was arrested after he failed to pay any profits and cheated the investors. He is being produced before the court.
