Jubilee Hills couple’s staff steal ₹2 crore jewellery

HYDERABAD: A Nepal couple working as domestic staff allegedly broke into lockers at a house in Jubilee Hills and fled with jewellery and watches worth about ₹2 crore, police said.
Nepal couple joins Hyderabad house as domestic staff
The incident occurred at a residence on Road No. 25 in Jubilee Hills belonging to businessman Pingali Anirudh Reddy and his wife Deepika Reddy.
According to police, the couple had employed Mahesh Shahi, 30, and Apsara, 25, from Nepal as domestic workers about 45 days ago. The pair replaced earlier staff Harat Singh and Rima Singh, who had returned to Nepal in January.
Investigators said the suspects appeared to work normally while observing the house and the locations where valuables were stored.
Lockers broken during owners’ trip to Ooty
On March 13, Anirudh Reddy and Deepika Reddy locked the house and travelled to Ooty.
Police said the suspects allegedly broke open the main door around 12.30am and entered the bedroom. Using rods and tools, they broke cupboards and lockers until about 4.30am.
They allegedly took eight diamond necklaces, several gold ornaments and 10 Rolex watches before fleeing the house.
Police examine CCTV footage and hunt for suspects
The theft came to light on Saturday morning when the family driver, Ali, arrived for work and noticed the broken cupboards. He informed the owners, after which police were alerted.
Officers from Jubilee Hills police station inspected the scene, collected fingerprints and examined CCTV footage. One suspect’s image was recorded on the cameras.
Police are searching for the suspects and questioning the previous domestic workers who recommended them. Teams have also been alerted in Mumbai, Bihar, and near the Nepal border as part of the investigation.
