Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addresses BJP meeting in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Union tourism and culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday alleged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress have turned into “pawns in the hands of AIMIM” in Telangana.

Shekhawat urges voters to ‘wake up Congress’

Speaking at a meeting of Pravasi Bharatiya supporters during the Jubilee Hills bypoll campaign, Shekhawat said the by-election should serve as “a slap on the Revanth Reddy government” and “an awakening for the Congress,” which, he alleged, had cheated the people of Telangana by failing to deliver on its promises.

He appealed to voters to support the BJP in the November 11 by-election, saying the result “should sow the seed for the party’s victory in the next assembly elections.”

Kishan Reddy says BRS left Telangana in debt

Union minister G Kishan Reddy said Telangana, once a rich state, became a “debt state” after BRS came to power. He alleged that the BRS government borrowed nearly ₹10 lakh crore and was mired in corruption.

“People have now rejected BRS and voted Congress to power, but the situation hasn’t changed. The Revanth Reddy government has not cleared retirement benefits for 18 months and owes crores of rupees to state institutions,” he said.

He urged voters to elect BJP candidate Deepak Reddy “to save Hyderabad.”

BJP state chief slams BRS, Congress as ‘brothers in corruption’

State BJP president N Ramchander Rao accused both BRS and Congress of being “two brothers of corruption” and called on voters to “save Telangana by supporting the BJP.”

Taking aim at chief minister Revanth Reddy, he said the CM was seeking Muslim votes but not appealing to the majority community. “What does this mean?” he asked, adding that Congress had remained silent when Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi raised slogans supporting Palestine in Parliament.

He alleged that Congress was “hobnobbing with AIMIM,” which, he said, had opposed the singing of “Vande Mataram,” a song that inspired freedom fighters.

Laxman appeals for support

Rajya Sabha MP Dr K Laxman also addressed the meeting and urged voters to back the BJP in the by-election.
