Photo ID mandatory for Jubilee Hills bypoll, says Sudarshan Reddy

HYDERABAD: State Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy has directed that every voter in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency must carry a valid photo identity card to cast their vote in the November 11 bypoll.
He said the directive follows the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, which mandate the presentation of an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) at polling stations.
Voters without an EPIC may produce any one of 12 alternative photo identification documents:
Aadhaar card
MNREGA job card
Bank or post office passbook with photo
Health insurance smart card (including Ayushman Bharat)
Driving licence
PAN card
Smart card issued under the National Population Register (NPR)
Indian passport
Pension document with photograph
Employee ID card issued by government, PSU or public limited companies
Official identity card of MPs, MLAs or MLCs
Unique Disability ID (UDID) card issued by the Department of Social Justice
Overseas voters registered under Section 20A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, must produce their original Indian passport, the CEO added.
Voter information slips will be distributed at least five days before polling day but cannot be used as identity proof, he clarified.
Reddy urged all voters in the constituency to verify their names in the electoral rolls and visit polling stations with valid photo ID to vote responsibly on November 11.
