Jubilee Hills bypoll: Police deploy drones, impose liquor ban, vehicle checks

HYDERABAD: Police have intensified security arrangements for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency ahead of the high-stakes byelection, which has become a prestige battle for major political parties. Officials said precautionary measures were taken to prevent any untoward incidents during polling.
Surveillance stepped up on anti-social elements and rowdy-sheeters
Teams have been deployed to monitor the movements of anti-social elements and rowdy-sheeters in the area. Those likely to disturb law and order have been bound over by the local tahsildar and revenue divisional officer.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand warned that strict action would be taken against individuals making provocative statements or posting inflammatory content on social media. He also directed all outsiders to vacate the constituency limits 48 hours before polling.
Ban on liquor sales; outsiders ordered to leave constituency
The police imposed a ban on liquor sales in hotels and restaurants until the completion of counting and declaration of results. Special patrolling teams have been formed to maintain round-the-clock vigil. Citizens have been urged to alert police about any suspicious persons.
Drone cameras, CCTV surveillance and central forces will be used to monitor sensitive areas.
The Jubilee Hills constituency, under the West and South-West zones, has seven police stations. There are 407 polling stations across 139 locations, including over 90 identified as sensitive. Security in these areas has been tightened, and the movements of rowdy-sheeters and habitual offenders are under close watch.
