Congress, BRS, BJP step up campaign in Jubilee Hills bypoll

Hyderabad:Â As the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll draws closer, the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are engaged in an intense campaign to secure victory. Each party is refining its strategy, conducting surveys, and gathering feedback from local leaders to identify key divisions and voters.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has taken direct charge of the Congress campaign, treating the bypoll as a prestige battle. On Sunday, he held a meeting with ministers and party functionaries at his residence, attended by Congress Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. For over three hours, the team reviewed survey data, assessed the performance of ministers and MLAs, and analysed the strengths and weaknesses of rival parties.
Sources said Revanth urged ministers and MLAs to remain vigilant and actively participate in the campaign instead of treating the election casually. He later met Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and adviser Vem Narender Reddy to assign responsibilities division-wise. Ponguleti was additionally put in charge of the Borabanda division.
Meanwhile, BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) is overseeing roadshows and public meetings across divisions. Party MLAs, former ministers and MPs are conducting door-to-door outreach to mobilise voters. Political observers note that BRS has maintained a low-key yet systematic campaign since the bypoll was necessitated by the death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath. The party is seeking to consolidate sympathy votes for its candidate Maganti Sunitha, while also targeting minority voters.
However, with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) backing Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, and the induction of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin into the Cabinet, BRS faces a tougher challenge in securing minority support.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has been leading the BJP campaign for candidate Deepak Reddy, holding several group and corner meetings daily. BJP MPs, MLAs, and key leaders are joining him at various events. Party sources said Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar will rejoin the campaign from November 6 to 9 after his official engagements. The BJP is banking on its sustained door-to-door outreach, with support recently extended by the Jana Sena Party.
Political analysts say the triangular contest remains open, with shifting alliances likely to influence the final outcome as polling nears.
