₹1 crore seized ahead of Jubilee Hills by election

HYDERABAD: Election authorities said they have intensified enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in the run-up to the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. Officials have stepped up inspections to prevent violations.

Since the election schedule was announced, over ₹1 crore in unaccounted cash has been seized in the constituency, officials said.

On Wednesday, a flying squad team seized ₹10 lakh in cash during checks at Tolichowki. The money was reportedly being transported in violation of election rules.

The nomination process for the bypoll entered its fourth day on Wednesday. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) candidate Maganti Sunitha has filed her nomination. Congress candidate Naveen Yadav is expected to file his nomination on Thursday.
