Ten candidates file nominations for Jubilee Hills bypoll
HYDERABAD: With the notification issued on Monday for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll, Returning Officer P Sai Ram began accepting nominations.
Several aspirants filed their papers between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the first day of nominations. A total of ten candidates submitted their papers.
Of them, two belong to registered political parties while eight are independents. Poosa Srinivas of the Telangana Punar Nirmana Samithi and Arvapally Srinivasa Rao of the Navataram Party filed their nominations.
Independent candidates include Siliveru Srikanth, Pesarakayala Parikshit Reddy, Chalika Chandrasekhar, Sapavath Suman, Vemula Vikram Reddy, Ibrahim Khan, Syed Mustafa Hussain and Salman Khan.
Earlier in the day, Hyderabad District Election Officer R V Karnan visited the returning officer’s office set up at the Shaikpet Tahsildar office.
He reviewed the preparedness with the returning and assistant returning officers and instructed that all arrangements be made in line with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines to ensure a smooth nomination process.
