Jubilee Hills AI cameras issue 6.3 lakh challans
Hyderabad : Three AI cameras installed in the Jubilee Hills traffic police station limits have generated challans against 6,34,067 motorists for violating traffic rules between April 18 and August 6.
The cameras have been installed at three locations near Alcazar Mall on Jubilee Hills Road No. 36, near Krishna Jewellers on Road No. 36 and near TV5 on Jubilee Hills Road No. 1.
AI cameras capture multiple traffic violations in seconds
The three cameras were among 32 AI cameras installed across Hyderabad on April 18. They detect violations including riding without a helmet, driving on the wrong side of the road and using a mobile phone while driving.
The cameras immediately capture images of vehicles involved in violations and generate challans. Even when 100 vehicles pass a camera at the same time, it can capture clear images of the vehicles, according to the report.
Each camera generates photographs and challans for more than 3,000 traffic violations a day.
Traffic department plans cameras at 50 more locations
The traffic department has proposed installing AI cameras at another 50 locations in Hyderabad in addition to the existing 32.
Jubilee Hills traffic inspector N Ravinder said wrong-side driving cases had fallen by more than 60% after the cameras were installed.
