Jogipet highway accident leaves one dead, one injured
TELANGANA: A man was killed and another injured after an auto-rickshaw lost control and plunged into the Annasagar tank in Andole mandal of Medak district on Saturday.
Auto skids on national highway bund
According to police, the accident occurred on the national highway running atop the Annasagar tank bund near Jogipet. Monkeys suddenly strayed onto the road, forcing the driver to swerve.
One dead, one injured
Vijay Rao, 55, died on the spot. Mahesh, who was travelling with him, suffered minor injuries.
Police shift body for post-mortem
Police said Mahesh and Vijay Rao, both residents of Jambikunta village in Nizampet mandal, were heading towards Jogipet when the mishap occurred. The auto-rickshaw fell into the tank while trying to avoid the animals.
Police retrieved the body and the vehicle from the tank and shifted the body to the Jogipet Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police said.
