Hyderabad: Jeedimetla police have successfully apprehended four interstate individuals and recovered stolen road roller and property worth a total of Rs. 34.5 lakhs. The arrest followed a detailed investigation that involved analyzing over 64 CCTV cameras along the escape route and employing advanced technical tools.
The theft occurred when the complainant, B. Laxman, a 40-year-old driver from Balanagar, Medchal District, reported that his road roller was stolen. Laxman had parked the road roller near an industrial park in Jeedimetla on January 20, 2025, after completing his work. The following morning, on January 21, he discovered that the vehicle was missing.
The investigation revealed that the accused, who had previously targeted similar machinery in the area, had used cranes and a DCM vehicle to steal the road roller. The stolen equipment was then taken to a scrap shop in Zaheerabad, where it was dismantled for parts and later sold to a scrap company in Maharashtra.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Afroz Ahmed Patel, a 24-year-old gas cutter from Karnataka; Mohammed Ibrahim, a 31-year-old scrap dealer from Zaheerabad; Shaik Anwar, a 35-year-old DCM owner and driver from Quthubullapur, Medchal District; and Balla Ram Satyanarayana, a 47-year-old crane owner from Quthubullapur. Another suspect, Syed Mustafa, is currently absconding.
The police team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police K. Suresh Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Hanumanth Rao, with the assistance of Inspector G. Mallesh and other officers from Jeedimetla Police Station, played a pivotal role in cracking the case. Their efforts resulted in the recovery of the stolen road roller, cranes, a DCM vehicle, and mobile phones, valued at Rs. 30 lakhs.
The arrested individuals are also linked to another similar theft of a road roller in the Petbasheerabad area under Cyberabad jurisdiction.
