HYDERABAD: Police in Jeedimetla arrested nine persons for allegedly running a fake vehicle insurance racket in NLB Nagar and nearby areas.

The case was registered at Jeedimetla police station based on a complaint filed by Mrinal Kumar, a representative of Reliance General Insurance Company.

Following specific information, a special team conducted raids in NLB Nagar on February 27 and detained Raghula Ravi, Shiva Kumar, S. Kurthi Manikya Rao, Kotha Babu Rao, Raghula Mahesh, Tadakala Giridhar Goud, Mora Narasimha, Kundungari Nagaraju and Jerpula Kishan.

Equipment used for forgery confiscated

Police seized a large number of fake vehicle insurance documents, stamps and equipment used to prepare the forged policies.

During inquiry, investigators found that the gang systematically targeted vehicle owners who required urgent renewal of insurance policies.

Inspector Malles said police would identify and arrest others linked to the racket.

He warned that fake insurance policies could leave motorists exposed to legal and financial trouble during accidents.

Police advised the public to verify vehicle insurance policies through official websites or authorised company agents before making payments.
