Missing woman found buried at home; daughter, lover held in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Jawaharnagar Police have arrested a 22-year-old man and a minor girl for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman and burying her body inside their house in Kowkoor, Alwal.
The victim, Anju D.R. (also referred to as Anju Dasari Ramaiah), a domestic worker from Bharathnagar, was reported missing on May 12, 2025. The case was initially registered as a woman missing under Crime No. 1189/2025.
Missing case turns into murder after confession
On October 17, 2025, the victim’s elder daughter, Kumari D. Roshini Kumari, lodged a complaint stating that her mother had not returned home from work and her phone was switched off.
During the investigation, police detained Monti Kumar Singh, alias Monti Raj, a driver from Subhash Nagar, Jeedimetla, on suspicion. He later confessed to the crime.
According to police, the accused had been in a relationship with the victim’s younger daughter, aged 17, since December 2023. The victim opposed the relationship due to her daughter being a minor and citing caste differences.
Relationship led to prior POCSO cases, arrests
Police said the accused had earlier been booked in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case in 2024 and arrested by Jawaharnagar Police. After release, he continued the relationship, leading to another POCSO and rape case at Bollaram police station and his re-arrest in January 2025.
In May 2025, the accused and the minor allegedly conspired to kill the victim due to her continued opposition.
Victim stabbed, body concealed under cemented floor
On May 12, 2025, the accused allegedly hid inside the house. When the victim returned, he stabbed her in the chest while the minor restrained her, police said.
The duo then wrapped the body, hid it under a bed, and later buried it inside the house using cement and sand after cleaning the scene. They misled the elder daughter by claiming the flooring was repaired due to rat infestation and destroyed the victim’s mobile phone.
The two continued living together before shifting residence. The minor later became pregnant, and the accused married her at Yadagirigutta temple on January 8, 2026. She gave birth to a male child about two months ago.
Body exhumed, sections altered under BNS
Following the confession, the body was exhumed from the house in the presence of panch witnesses. An inquest was conducted by the Deputy Tahsildar, Alwal, and a post-mortem examination was carried out by doctors from Osmania General Hospital.
Police altered the case sections from missing to murder under Sections 103(1), 238 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Both accused, including the minor girl, have been arrested and produced before a court for judicial remand. Police recovered one knife used in the crime.
The case was detected under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Sridhar (Malkajgiri Zone) and Assistant Commissioner Chakrapani, along with Jawaharnagar police station staff.
