Seized adulterated ginger-garlic paste and grinding machines in Hyderabad raid

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairatabad Zone, arrested a 21-year-old man for manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger-garlic paste in unhygienic conditions near Railway Gate in MS Maktha under the limits of Lake police station.

Acting on credible information, the team conducted a surprise inspection at House No. 6-3-1240/5. Officers found ginger-garlic paste being prepared in conditions hazardous to public health.

The accused, Jasani Ilyan, a resident of Abids, was running the business under the name ‘JJ Foods’. Police said the paste was stored in open plastic tubs, exposing it to dust, flies and other contaminants, making it unsafe for consumption.

He was allegedly using an expired Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence (No. 13624010000299) and supplying the adulterated paste to hotels and grocery shops for illegal gains.

A case has been registered as Crime No. 18/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Lake police station.

Grinding machines, acetic acid recovered

Police seized 4,000 kg of adulterated ginger-garlic paste, including 1,600 kg stored in 40 plastic tubs, 130 containers of 5 kg each (650 kg), 900 one-kg containers, 300 packets of 500 g each (150 kg), 3,000 packets of 200 g each (600 kg) and 2,000 packets of 50 g each (100 kg).

Officers also seized one large and one small grinding machine, 5 kg turmeric powder, 20 litres of acetic acid, 40 bags of salt weighing 1,000 kg, and an Ashok Leyland goods auto (TS07UG5664) used for supply.

The accused and seized material were handed over to the Station House Officer of Lake police station for further legal action.

The operation was carried out by Inspector P. Raghavender, Sub-Inspector G. Sreekanth, Lake police station Sub-Inspector N. Shiva Shankar and staff.
