Janwada farmhouse faces official scrutiny over encroachment claims

Janwada farmhouse encroachment scrutiny

Hyderabad: A joint survey by revenue and irrigation officials was conducted at a farmhouse in Janwada village, Shankarpally Mandal, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The inspection involved a six-member team from the Irrigation Department using Naksha and DGPS technology in response to allegations of encroachment on the Firangi Nala near Osman Sagar.

The farmhouse is reportedly leased by former municipal minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao, though he denies ownership. The property is said to belong to B. Pradeep Reddy, a friend of KTR.

There are claims that the farmhouse’s fence and gate have been built within the Firangi Nala, prompting the need for this survey. Officials from Shankarpally Mandal and Rangareddy districts started marking the site on Tuesday, with the survey continuing through Wednesday.

The issue has gained significant attention, leading the Telangana High Court to direct the government and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to take appropriate measures, including issuing notices before any potential demolition. The High Court has also rejected a request from realtor Pradeep Reddy Badvelu for a stay on the demolition of the Janwada farmhouse, instructing HYDRAA to follow Government Order (GO) 99, which outlines procedures for demolishing properties in such zones.

The farmhouse, which spans over 3,000 square feet, is alleged to encroach upon 11 guntas of buffer zone land and three guntas of the nala. According to the reports, the structure does not have the required building permits despite a property tax assessment conducted by local panchayat officials in 2015. The land is classified as a conservation zone, where the construction of permanent structures and land conversion for non-agricultural purposes are strictly prohibited.
