Jagtial School Suspends Students Over Hanuman Mala, Suspension Later Revoked

HYDERABAD: Tensions erupted in Jagtial on Monday, March 16, after Nikhil Bharat School in Metpally allegedly denied entry to five students and suspended them for wearing a Hanuman mala.
In a video circulating on social media, student Arjit said, “The school Principal asked us not to come for 21 days, saying we should sit in a temple doing bhajans.” A protester added, “The school management is being biased. They punished students for wearing the Hanuman mala but took no action against students fasting during Ramzan.”
As news spread, members of Hindutva groups gathered at the school. They raised slogans and vandalised parts of the premises.
Metpally police arrived to control the situation. A police officer said the school has not filed any formal complaint about the vandalism so far.
Suspension revoked after consultation
Jagtial District Education Officer K Ramu said, “We visited the school and addressed the issue. The Mandal Education Officer issued a show-cause notice to the school. The notice stated that the students did not violate any rules. The suspension has now been revoked.”
