Car recovered from Mallial flood canal in Jagtial after BRS leader Tirumani Ramana found dead

TELANGANA: Tirumani Ramana, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, was found dead after his car fell into the Mallial flood canal near Suddapalli village in Pegadapally mandal of Jagtial district.

Locals spotted a car floating in the flood canal and alerted the police.

Missing case filed three days earlier

Police rushed to the spot and pulled out the vehicle with the help of a crane and expert swimmers. Ramana’s body was found inside the car.

A missing case had been registered at Pegadapally police station three days ago.

Police probe accident or murder angle

Ramana had earlier served as vice-chairman of the Market Committee when he was with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). He recently contested the Sarpanch election with BJP support and lost by a narrow margin.

Several doubts have been raised over the circumstances of the incident. Police said they are investigating whether it was an accident or a case of murder.

His death cast a pall of gloom in Pegadapally mandal.
