Hyderabad: The 1990 Telugu fantasy film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is set to re-release in theatres on May 9 in both 2D and 3D formats, announced Vyjayanthi Movies on their official social media handles. The date marks the 35th anniversary of the film’s original release.

Vyjayanthi Movies posted, “A landmark film that made history. Experience the wonderful magic of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari once again, celebrating 35 glorious years this May 9th!” The announcement was tagged with names of key contributors including Chiranjeevi, Sridevi, Ilaiyaraaja, director K. Raghavendra Rao, and producer C. Aswani Dutt.

Actor Sharwanand also shared his excitement on social media, stating, “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is the reason I became an actor! After all these years, getting the chance to witness the magic all over again. Can’t wait!”

Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, the film was co-written by Jandhyala and Yandamuri Veerendranath. It stars Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, with Amrish Puri, Kannada Prabhakar, Allu Ramalingaiah, and Rami Reddy in supporting roles. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and the film was produced by C. Aswani Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner.

The story follows a man who comes across a ring with great powers, which belongs to a goddess trying to return to her world.

Released on May 9, 1990, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari was a major commercial success, grossing ₹15 crore and becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film at the time. It went on to win five Nandi Awards and is widely regarded as a classic in Telugu fantasy cinema.
