Jadcherla MLA threatens to set Aurobindo Pharma on fire

JADCHERLA: Jadcherla MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy has issued an ultimatum to the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (PCB) over alleged pollution from Aurobindo Pharma’s unit in Polepally SEZ, Mahbubnagar district.
In a video released on Friday, Reddy warned that if the PCB fails to act within a day, he would personally set the factory on fire at 11 am on Sunday. “Do you want to take action against Aurobindo Pharma or should I burn it down?” he asked, accusing the industry of causing losses to farmers.
Farmers had sent him photos and videos of polluted water and emissions from the plant, urging him to intervene. Reddy added that he had raised the issue in the Assembly but officials and the company management appeared to be acting in concert.
“I will not tolerate injustice to farmers. My patience has run out,” he said. He alleged that untreated wastewater from the plant was damaging crops and killing fish in village ponds.
Reddy said Aurobindo Pharma had earned thousands of crores but was destroying local livelihoods. “I am giving time till Sunday morning. If PCB and the company do not act within a day, burning the plant is guaranteed,” he said.
