IT professionals urge GHMC to address dust pollution in Financial District

Hyderabad: IT professionals and daily commuters in the Financial District are facing severe inconvenience due to the excessive dust caused by ongoing construction work by Phoenix Constructions. Citizens are expressing their concerns over the air quality, which they believe is affecting their health, especially with the risk of lung infections. They have called for immediate intervention by GHMC officials on the matter.
Speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, an anonymous IT professional highlighted the issue, saying, “Phoenix Construction, which has been operating in the Financial District for years, is polluting the entire pedestrian area. People are unable to walk or drive properly, and the lack of fresh air is a serious concern.”
Can we do something about this plz ? It’s a daily pain and nonsense. Look at the dust. IT professionals are falling sick so as pedestrians. One citizen shared this video. @vinay_vangala @lsai_koushika @ActivistTeja @sselvan @happy_hyderabad @CYBTRAFFIC pic.twitter.com/SGSrnXEc0r

He said, “With many IT professionals commuting through this area daily, the impact is significant. The authorities from TSIIC need to take swift action. Phoenix Constructions should cover the area with 20-foot-high sheets and use water to control the dust. The dust is damaging trees and roads. The construction site is a major disruption. They need to implement dust control measures like those at nearby construction sites, such as opposite IKEA.”
This issue was further brought to light by a concerned citizen on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter). The user, @commoncitizenhyd, posted a video highlighting the extent of the dust problem and expressed frustration, saying, “Can we do something about this, please? It’s a daily pain. Look at the dust—IT professionals are sick, and pedestrians suffer. @CYBTRAFFIC.”
In response, GHMC acknowledged the concern and replied, “Dear citizen, thank you for sharing the issue. Could you please provide the location details so we can address the matter promptly and notify the relevant authorities?”
Dear Citizen, thank you for sharing the location details. We have forwarded the issue to the relevant authorities for prompt action and will ensure the area is cleaned up and dust control measures are implemented at the earliest. @EE_C20 @ae_kondapur @dc_slp20

GHMC replied again, assuring the citizen, “Dear Citizen, thank you for providing the location details. We have forwarded the issue to the relevant authorities for immediate action. Dust control measures will be implemented, and the area will be cleaned at the earliest. @EE_C20 @ae_kondapur.”
