ISL 2024-25: Hyderabad FC goes down fighting against Chennaiyin FC

ISL 2024-25: Chennaiyin FC scored a first home win of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 against Hyderabad FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Wednesday.
An early goal from Irfan Yadwad helped Chennaiyin team humble Hyderabad with a 1-0 much-needed victory. He scored the goal as early as the fifth minute. The win made the team bounce back from their three-game losing streak and jump from ninth place to seventh spot in the standings.
Owen Coyle is celebrating his 50th game as the head coach of Chennaiyin. He became the team’s first head coach to reach this milestone. Coyle’s game plan with a formation of 3-5-2 against Hyderabad paid off.
Hyderabad FC retained the ball 57 percent of the game time but failed to convert into a goal. Chennaiyin FC player Lukas Brambilla was quick to gain possession of the ball near the halfway mark and began delivering a defence-splitting through ball.
Around the 25th minute mark, Andrei Alba and Alex Saji of Hyderabad were close to draw an equaliser but ended up losing the opportunity. In the 56th minute, Allan Paulista and Cy Goddard made an attempt at the Chennaiyin FC box but couldn’t go beyond Marina Machans’ backline. Subsequently, got possession of the ball but the shot went way off the target.
