Hyderabad LPG bookings delayed amid Iran–Israel war
HYDERABAD: The Iran–Israel war in West Asia is affecting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply, prompting oil companies to impose restrictions on cylinder bookings.
Shipping disruptions at sea and reduced supply have forced oil companies to introduce a minimum gap between two bookings. The change has been implemented unofficially from Wednesday.
Double-cylinder users wait 30 days; single-cylinder users 21 days
Consumers with double-cylinder connections must now wait 30 days between bookings. Those with single-cylinder connections can book the next refill only after 21 days.
Earlier, customers could book refills at shorter intervals.
Telangana records over 1.3 crore LPG connections
Telangana has about 1.3 crore LPG connections. On average, 58–60 lakh bookings are made every month.
In recent days, bookings have increased as consumers fear possible shortages due to the war.
Oil companies said the restrictions aim to prevent artificial shortages.
LPG for Telangana is supplied from terminals in Visakhapatnam and Mangaluru. To prevent excess bookings, oil companies have modified the booking software in their enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
