HYDERABAD:  Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been put in place for the 19th edition of the TATA IPL 2026 matches scheduled from April 5 to May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.

The stadium, which has a seating capacity of around 39,000, will host day and night matches. Authorities said about 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the matches.

Security deployment includes 750 law and order personnel, 300 traffic police, 10 platoons of Telangana State Special Police/Armed Reserve, mounted police units, bomb disposal teams, intelligence teams, and fire services.

Surveillance, anti-sabotage checks intensified throughout venue

A total of 430 CCTV cameras, including 100 newly installed units, have been set up across the stadium, parking zones, and approach roads. A joint command and control room will monitor live feeds for quick response.

Anti-sabotage checks will continue throughout match days with bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs deployed at the venue and parking areas. Scanners have also been installed to detect explosives and prohibited items.

Separate teams have been assigned to monitor anti-social elements, while SHE Teams will oversee prevention of eve-teasing. Vendor regulation teams will ensure compliance with authorised pricing.

Authorities said Gate No. 1 is reserved exclusively for players, and spectators must enter through designated gates as per ticket allocation. No cloakroom facilities will be available.

Strict ban on items; digital ticketing from April 13

Spectators are prohibited from carrying items such as laptops, water bottles, bags, cameras, cigarettes, lighters, sharp objects, perfumes, and outside food. Mobile-checking technicians will be deployed at each gate.

Gates will open three hours before match time. Authorities have increased ambulance services from three to five and deployed four fire engines for emergencies.

Digital ticketing will be implemented from April 13 for entry into the stadium. Seating arrangements have been streamlined with allocated seat numbers in all galleries.

Traffic diversions in Uppal, congestion expected on match days

Traffic police have announced diversions for heavy vehicles, including trucks, lorries, and private buses, during match days. Restrictions will be enforced on key routes around Uppal junction.

Moderate congestion is expected on April 5 between 12.00 IST and 23.50 IST on routes from Nagole to Habsiguda and Boduppal to Amberpet via Uppal.

Parking has been arranged at designated locations, while entry to stadium parking is restricted to authorised pass holders. Vehicles without valid passes will not be allowed beyond key checkpoints.

Authorities advised spectators to use RTC buses and Metro Rail services to avoid congestion and ensure smooth travel.
