Ipl 2025 Srh Beat Rr By 44 Runs, Ishan Kishan Hits Ton

Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan’s scintillating ton helped the SRH post the second-highest team total in the IPL history. The wicketkeeper-batter scored his first century of the season in just 45 balls.

The pitch at the Uppal stadium favoured the batsmen while the bowlers had a tough day as the innings saw 528 runs being scored in 40 overs of the match.

Chasing a mammoth target of 287, Rajasthan Royals ended at 242 for 6 in 20 overs. The visitors lost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (1), captain Riyan Parag (4), and Nitish Rana (11) quickly in the first five overs.

The team picked some momentum after Impact Substitute Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel stitched a 111-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Both the players Samson and Jurel also scored their half-tons off 26 and 28 balls respectively.

As the duo helped the run-rate touch the required run rate graph, pacer Harshal Patel got the key scalp with the dismissal of Samson (66) in the 14th over. Subsequently, spinner Adam Zampa removed Jurel for 70 which dealt a huge blow to RR. At the fag end of the match, Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey batted aggressively, however, could not lead the team to victory as the team was only able to reach 242/6 in 20 overs. Simranjeet Singh and Harshal Patel bagged two scalps each.

After being invited to bat first, the SRH openers started from where they left last season. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, Kishan fired on all cylinders keeping the Hyderabad team in good stead. For RR, Tushar Deshpande bagged three wickets while Theekshana returned with figures of 2-52 in his four overs.
Brief scores:

Sunrisers Hyderabad 286/6 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 106 not out, Travis Head 67; Tushar Deshpande 3-44, Maheesh Theekshana 2-52) beat Rajasthan Royals 242/6 in 20 overs (Dhruv Jurel 70, Sanju Samson 66; Harshal Patel 2-34, Simarjeet Singh 2-46) by 44 runs.
