Indiramma Towers to come up in KPHB

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is preparing to take a key step towards fulfilling the dream of owning a house for the urban poor, with indiramma Towers planned on a prime parcel of land in KPHB Colony.
The Housing Board is making arrangements to construct the towers on its land opposite Malaysian Township in KPHB. The application deadline for the housing scheme was recently extended to August 15. Officials are considering performing the bhoomi puja on August 13 or, if that is not possible, later in the same week.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to unveil the foundation stone for the towers at a public meeting planned at the site.
Four towers planned across 5.87 acres in KPHB
The foundation stone for the Indiramma housing towers will be laid at a prime location between KPHB Phases 7 and 9 and Gokul Flats.
The government plans to spend ₹10.80 crore on each tower, taking the total cost for four towers to around 43 crore. Officials aim to complete the construction within a year.
According to the layout prepared on Tuesday, Phase 1 and Phase 2 Indiramma houses will be constructed at the same location. A total of 5.87 acres has been earmarked for the two phases.
Under Phase 1, 480 houses will be constructed, while Phase 2 will have 600 houses. The Housing Board has begun levelling its land at the site for the public meeting.
First towers in Housing Board’s 47-year history
The Housing Board laid the foundation stone for houses in KPHB Phases 1 and 2 during Dasara in 1980. Over the past 47 years, it has constructed thousands of houses under the Lower Income Group, Middle
Income Group, Economically Weaker Sections and High Income Group categories. Malaysian Township was developed as the first gated community in the area.
The construction of the Indiramma houses in a tower format will be the first such project in the history of the Housing Board.
