India’s first Life Sciences Policy to be launched by Telangana, says CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the 22nd edition of BioAsia 2025 at the Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC) on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The event, attended by global leaders and industry experts, highlighted Telangana’s growing prominence in the life sciences sector.
During his address, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana will introduce India’s first “Life Sciences Policy” to foster a more industry-friendly environment, enhance infrastructure, and attract both domestic and foreign investments.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the state’s role in transforming Hyderabad into the “Life Sciences capital” over the past 25 years. He highlighted the presence of numerous global pharmaceutical, healthcare, and biotech companies in the city, underlining the government’s efforts to drive innovation in the sector.

“BioAsia has helped shape Hyderabad as a hub for life sciences, IT, and digital health,” said the Chief Minister. “We are committed to promoting research and supporting new developments in the sector.”
The Chief Minister noted the success of Genome Valley, which has attracted significant international investments. He pointed to recent expansions by Amgen and the launch of Miltenyi Biotec’s cell and gene therapy operations in Genome Valley as prime examples of Telangana’s growing global presence.
“Telangana ranks first in the country for attracting both domestic and foreign investments,” Revanth Reddy continued. “Last year, we secured over ₹40,000 crore in investments in the Life Sciences sector across more than 150 projects.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s achievements in job creation, mentioning that Telangana secured ₹1.78 lakh crore in investments at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which will generate 50,000 jobs across various sectors.
He spoke about ongoing projects to develop manufacturing hubs and pharma clusters in the ORR and RRR regions, with the aim of creating over 5 lakh jobs. The Green Pharma City, part of the Future City project, is also under rapid development.
Revanth Reddy set a goal for Telangana to become a $1 trillion economy within the next decade. He also expressed plans to make the state a key player in the global supply chain under the “China Plus One” strategy.

The Chief Minister presented the Genome Valley Excellence Award 2025 to Prof. Patrick Tan, Executive Director of Precision Health Research (PRISCISE), Singapore. Minister Sridhar Babu, Queensland Governor Dr. Janet Young, and other distinguished guests also participated in the inaugural session.
