Hyderabad: An Indian woman, Nikita Godishala, was found murdered at an apartment in Columbia, Maryland, triggering an investigation by US police.
Former boyfriend under suspicion
Police suspect her former boyfriend, Arjun Sharma, in the killing. Sharma had earlier lodged a missing person complaint, stating that Nikita was not seen after New Year celebrations.
According to investigators, Sharma told police he last saw Nikita on December 31 at her apartment in Ellicott City. He left for India on January 2.
Body found during apartment search
US police searched the apartment and found Nikita’s body. Officials said injury marks were found on her body, confirming it as a case of murder.
Police are making efforts to trace Sharma, who is believed to have fled to India after the incident.
