Hyderabad: A thought-provoking symposium on “Improving Driving Behavior in India” was successfully held at IIIT Hyderabad, bringing together key stakeholders from industry, government, law enforcement, NGOs, public health, emergency care, and academia.

The event aimed to explore technological solutions for enhancing road safety and fostering responsible driving behavior across the country.

Joel Davis, IPS (Joint Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the critical role of law enforcement in ensuring safer roads.

Addressing the gathering, he said “The police department is committed to improving driving behavior and reducing road accidents. We are leveraging technology, including high-rise cameras in IT corridors, for real-time traffic monitoring and congestion management.”

Experts from industry startups, government law enforcement, NGOs, public health, and research institutions shared their perspectives on using data-driven approaches to curb traffic violations, enhance enforcement, and educate road users.

Representatives from the public and private sectors underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing challenges such as reckless driving, wrong-side driving, and overspeeding.
